Registered Nurse, Preop/PACU

This is a 13-week contract position.

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Preop/PACU is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for patients according to established policies and professional nursing standards. This role is accountable for the quality of nursing services provided to patients, utilizing specialized knowledge and judgment to ensure appropriate care is delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs—physical, psychological, social, and spiritual—prior to and after surgical procedures.
  • Formulate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Implement care plans through direct patient care and supervision of medical staff activities.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to care and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of nursing assessments, care delivered, and patient progress.
  • Promote continuity of care through effective communication with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Participate in mentoring, guiding, and educating staff and students within the department.
  • Engage in professional development activities and contribute to improving national nursing quality indicators.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required.
  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS certification required within 90 days of starting if assigned to ASC services pediatrics.
  • Minimum one year of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU or related settings; two years preferred.
