This is an excellent summer internship opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing an in-house legal career. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain broad, substantive legal experience across the full range of issues faced by a technology company operating at a start-up pace. You will have the ability to do real legal work, with direct mentorship from the General Counsel and Senior Corporate Counsel.
What you will do:
  • Research regulatory developments in areas relevant to the company, including state privacy laws and consumer protection, create business facing materials on regulatory issues, and advise business teams
  • Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements, including NDAs, SaaS agreements, and statements of work, and support related negotiations with third parties
  • Maintain and update contract repository system; identify ways to scale contract management
  • Help implement and improve legal team workflows, templates, contract repository and knowledge management systems, compliance processes, playbooks, and training materials
  • Draft and update Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and other user-facing policies
  • Triage and respond to internal legal questions from business teams across the company
  • Anything else that comes through the door!

After this internship you will:
  • Have an understanding of the day-to-day activities of an in-house legal department
  • Have developed an understanding of relevant legal tools and systems
  • Have an understanding of the commercial contract life-cycle

You'll thrive in this role if:
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school; returning to school after the internship

  • You don't wait to be told what to do next. You take initiative, ask good questions, and figure things out
  • You are able to manage a variety of fast-paced deadlines with a patient and positive attitude
  • You understand and respect the sensitive nature of confidential information and can navigate complex situations and tasks in a discrete and efficient manner
  • You have a strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation: The hourly rate for this internship is $28 - $32. Compensation reflects academic program (undergraduate vs. law school), year in program, and relevant legal coursework or clinic experience.
