Role Description: 

As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective science instruction to students in grades 6 and 7. You will create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters a love of scientific exploration and helps students develop strong skills using the standards-based Amplify Science curriculum. 

Requirements

Responsibilities: 

  • Embody & Elan Academy's mission, vision, and values;
  • Participate in an annual summer staff orientation and training;
  • Plan and deliver comprehensive science lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum objectives
  • Plan and execute rigorous science labs 
  • Incorporate various teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, technology integration, and differentiated instruction, to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and teaching methodologies.
  • Create and maintain an organized and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Participate in weekly coaching meetings. 
  • Work collaboratively with Scholar Support Teammates to ensure all student accommodations and modifications are implemented with fidelity. 
  • Actively track, celebrate, and respond to student data. 

Qualifications: 

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, Education, or a related field 
  • Valid teaching certification in the appropriate subject area and grade level preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of middle school science concepts and effective teaching practices
