IPC Teacher (with Possible Coaching Duties) Sweetwater High School | Sweetwater ISDSweetwater Independent School District is seeking a motivated and student-centered
Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) Teacher to join the team at Sweetwater High School. Coaching duties may be assigned based on candidate experience and campus needs. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about science instruction, student engagement, and contributing to a strong campus culture both in the classroom and through extracurricular programs.
Position OverviewThe IPC Teacher will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that builds students' understanding of foundational concepts in physics and chemistry. The ideal candidate will create a classroom environment that promotes inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world application of scientific principles while also supporting student development through potential coaching responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality Tier 1 science instruction aligned to state standards for IPC
- Design and implement engaging labs and hands-on learning experiences
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and interventions
- Prepare students for success on state assessments
- Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and scientific reasoning
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Implement district-adopted curriculum with fidelity
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom/lab environment
- (If assigned) Fulfill coaching duties, including planning practices, supervising student-athletes, and supporting the overall athletic program
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certification (Science 7 12 or Physical Science preferred)
- Strong content knowledge in physics and chemistry concepts
- Coaching certification/experience preferred for candidates interested in coaching duties
- Experience with data-driven instruction and student engagement strategies preferred
Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA)Sweetwater ISD participates in the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment, providing additional compensation for highly effective teachers based on designation level:
- Recognized: $7,020 annually
- Exemplary: $14,041 annually
- Master: $25,401 annually
