Job Title: Physics Teacher

Job Purpose:
The Catholic high school teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Physics while fostering a positive learning environment grounded in Catholic teachings. This role includes preparing lesson plans and related labs, assessing student performance, and supporting students' spiritual, academic, and personal growth in a faith-based setting. Their role extends beyond just delivering knowledge; they must inspire, guide, and support students both academically and spiritually, while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and loving environment for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and diocesan standards.
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons to students, incorporating Catholic teachings where appropriate.
- Provide a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking.
- Establish and maintain a respectful, disciplined classroom atmosphere based on mutual respect and Catholic values.
- Address conflicts and behavioral issues in a fair, consistent, and compassionate manner.
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes cooperation, kindness, and respect for one another.
- Assess student progress through tests, assignments, projects, and other appropriate methods.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and grades.
- Model Catholic values and teachings in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
- Integrate faith into daily lessons and classroom activities, creating opportunities for spiritual growth.
- Lead or participate in prayer services, liturgies, retreats, and other faith-based activities.
- Support students in their moral and spiritual development by offering guidance and mentorship.
- Work closely with fellow faculty members, staff, and administration to support the overall mission of the school.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students' academic progress, behavior, and faith formation.
- Stay updated on educational best practices, curriculum changes, and diocesan policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and Catholic faith formation opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics with a Masters preferred.
- State certification or licensure as a high school teacher endorsed in Physics.
- Familiarity with digital tools, learning platforms, and multimedia resources to enhance teaching and student engagement.
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and values.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- A passion for teaching and mentoring adolescents, with a focus on both academic and spiritual development.
Skills and Abilities:
- A deep understanding of the subject area and NGSS Standards to provide accurate and thorough Physics instruction.
- Ability to explain concepts and ideas in a simple and engaging way, adjusting language and delivery to meet the needs of diverse students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other staff members regarding student progress, behavior, and personal development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse educational environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Environment:
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around the classroom.
- Occasional lifting of materials, books, and educational tools.
- Participation in school-related activities such as field trips, retreats, and extra-curricular events.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard; and reach with hands and arms.
