In Global Merchant & Network Services, we primarily focus on the businesses that accept our cards. We bring together the businesses that manage and evolve the company's relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs the company's payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.     The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program 
    • Bachelor's degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
    • Experience in the payments industry is a plus. 
    • Experience with SQL and/or Hive is a plus. 

    Preferred Qualifications 

    • Strong interest in the payments industry, digital products, and product management. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to distill down complex concepts or problems. 
    • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continually learn about the changing payments landscape and emerging technologies. 
    • Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with leaders, colleagues in different time zones, and cross-functional partners to deliver value beyond traditional means. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely and translate to diverse sets of stakeholders.    
    • Strategic and innovative mindset with ability to translate data and insights into actionable business opportunities  
    • Strong project management skills, communication skills, and attention to detail. 
    • Proficient in analytical and presentation tools, including MS Excel and PowerPoint 
    • Demonstrated resilience, proactive problem solving, 'can do' attitude, and optimism in changing circumstances. 
    • Ability to multi-task effortlessly and manage competing priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change. 
    • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving continuous process improvement. 

    Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

    What type of work can you expect to do at American Express during the 10-week internship? 

    • Contribute to the product vision, strategy, and value proposition. 

    • Understand customer paint points, customer journey, personas and be able to clearly articulate the product value proposition. 

    • Conduct market and user research, identify market trends, and evaluate the competitive landscape to identify opportunities to further enhance the product value proposition. 

    • Develop business cases articulating the quantitative and strategic business impact of a product or service 

    • Collect and synthesize product data to drive actionable insights and steer the product strategy. 

    • Partner with Delivery and Technology teams to groom, prioritize, and execute on the product backlog in an agile environment. 

    • Drive product and/or feature adoption and engagement in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, including development of marketing & servicing materials, and measuring impact post launch 

    • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., engineering, data, analytics, other product management teams, etc.) to deliver results as a cross-functional team.
