At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you’ll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.

Together, we advance your career.

The Team

AMD's Data Center GPU organization is transforming the AI and HPC landscape. Our mission is to design and market exceptional products—anchored by our Instinct™ GPU portfolio—that power the next generation of computing in enterprise data centers, cloud, and supercomputing environments. If you’re excited by AI disruption and want to be part of building something big, join us.

The Role

AMD is seeking a Product Management Director (Individual Contributor) to help define and deliver next-generation GPU and AI infrastructure platforms for data center workloads.

This is a senior, high-impact role operating at Director scope without direct people management. You will own critical product domains and drive strategic initiatives across AMD’s data center GPU portfolio, shaping product direction, influencing architecture, and improving how the organization plans and executes.

In addition to product ownership, this role will lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives such as long-term technology planning, portfolio investment decisions, and product management operational rigor. You will partner closely with senior leadership to bring structure, clarity, and execution discipline to complex, multi-team efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Ownership
    • Own end-to-end product definition for selected areas of AMD’s Data Center GPU and AI infrastructure portfolio
    • Translate customer requirements, market signals, and technology trends into clear product strategies and requirements
    • Drive Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and ensure alignment with architecture and business objectives
    • Evaluate and guide trade-offs across performance, power, cost, scalability, and time-to-market
  • Strategic Initiatives & Portfolio Planning
    • Lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives such as long-term technology and R&D investment planning
    • Multi-generation roadmap alignment and portfolio prioritization
    • Evaluation of new product opportunities or market expansions
    • Support executive decision-making with structured analysis and clear recommendations
    • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current approaches and drive improvements
  • Product Operations & Analytics
    • Drive development and adoption of consistent product management processes across the organization
    • Build and maintain business cases, including revenue, cost, and investment trade-offs
    • Improve cross-functional planning and execution (e.g., NPI readiness, pricing inputs, customer deliverables)
    • Establish mechanisms for tracking goals, progress, and key decisions across product teams
  • Architecture & System Leadership
    • Translate AI/HPC workloads and infrastructure requirements into silicon and system-level definitions
    • Influence architecture decisions across GPU, memory, interconnect, and platform design
    • Drive cross-domain trade-offs spanning performance, scalability, power, cooling, and system integration
    • Participate in architecture reviews and key development milestones
  • Cross-Functional Execution
    • Drive alignment across Architecture, Silicon Design, Systems Engineering, Software, Operations, and Business teams
    • Lead complex efforts from early concept through production and deployment
    • Partner with go-to-market teams to ensure clear positioning and successful launches
  • Customer & Ecosystem Engagement
    • Engage with hyperscalers, cloud providers, and system partners to inform product direction
    • Support key customer engagements and help align AMD solutions with infrastructure needs
    • Contribute to external-facing materials and technical narratives where needed

Required Qualifications

  • 12–15+ years of experience in technical product management, system architecture, or related engineering roles
  • Background in GPUs, AI accelerators, or large-scale data center systems
  • Proven experience delivering complex hardware products and/or leading cross-functional strategic initiatives
  • Strong understanding of system-level trade-offs across performance, power, cost, and scalability
  • Experience building business cases and using data to drive product decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills across technical and executive audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML workloads, training/inference systems, or HPC environments
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure including networking, cooling, and platform design
  • Experience in product operations, portfolio planning, or business analytics within a technical organization
  • Background in architecture-driven product management or system engineering
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA a plus

Academic Credentials

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline

Location

U.S. (Austin, Santa Clara, or flexible remote within the U.S.; travel required to customer and partner sites)

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
