Job description

Team Lead

The Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of distribution employees to achieve goals and maintain high standards of quality. This role will require a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communication to drive team success. This position leads our Amazon Department on first shift, Tuesday thru Friday, 5 am to 3:30 pm.

Core functions include partnering with the leadership on employee scheduling, labor efficiency, work instructions, and throughput; collaborating with other area leads and supervisors to facilitate cross-training opportunities; implementing work instructions to ensure employee knowledge and accuracy is up to date; collaborating with purchasing, customer service, and shipping to monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels for all parts; effectively communicating maintenance issues and repair and replace consumables as needed; serving as a positive leader and mentor by exhibiting and instructing desirable behaviors and skill sets; serving as the initial point of contact and primary support resource for employees; and performing other related or non-related duties as assigned through on-the-job training.

Qualifications and requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and/or a combination of experience and education required, minimum of 2 years in a distribution setting with some leadership responsibilities required, 3-5 years in years in a distribution setting with some leadership responsibilities preferred, knowledge of and experience in kitting functions within a distribution center preferred, ability to become certified on powered industrial equipment, and no travel required.

Competencies include adapting to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, changing approach or method to best fit the situation, dealing with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events, following instructions, responding to management direction, taking responsibility for own actions, keeping commitments, committing to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals, completing tasks on time or notifying appropriate person with an alternate plan, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness, looking for ways to improve and promote quality, applying feedback to improve performance, monitoring own work to ensure quality, meeting productivity standards, completing work in timely manner, striving to increase productivity, working quickly, observing safety and security procedures, reporting potentially unsafe conditions, using equipment and materials properly, balancing team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to other views, giving and welcoming feedback, contributing to building a positive team spirit, putting success of team above own interests, supporting everyone's efforts to succeed, speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listening and getting clarification, responding well to questions, demonstrating group presentation skills, and participating in meetings.

Physical requirements include medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activities include climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual acuity is required to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a warehouse-based environment.
