Job description

The Broadcast Operations Lead, FAST will oversee daily and long-term technical and live channel operations of the Amazon Live free ad-supported (FAST) channel. The Amazon Live FAST channel is a 24/7 live shopping channel currently available on Prime Video, Fire TV and Samsung TV Plus. This role requires technical expertise and working knowledge of operating a 24/7 linear TV channel, working within cloud based playout systems (Amagi, Frequency or similar), as well as experience with live broadcast environments.

The position may lead a team of contractors, while scaling and growing the channel in order to meet and anticipate the overall business needs of the organization. This role will collaborate with technical and product teams on Amazon's "Shop the Show" integration, helping them prioritize features on the roadmap to ensure the best customer experience for the channel. As the senior operations lead for the channel, you will analyze data to influence business operations and scaling decisions, you will define objectives, implement measurable improvements and influence resource allocation.

This role operates in a high-visibility, always on live broadcast environment, requiring the ability to quickly resolve crises with cross-functional teams while maintaining composure.
Key job responsibilities
* Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Amazon Live 24/7 shopping channel, including owning relationships with vendors, running daily staff meetings, maintaining best practices as it relates to broadcasting (Video/Audio quality, Metadata, Playlisting within Amagi system, Live insertion), problem solving issues as they occur in a scalable manner, managing budgets and hands on operational work
* Own the technical pipeline which includes expert knowledge of broadcast industry trends which can be added seamlessly in order to further scale the operation.
* Create and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the channel's ever changing technical requirements
* Develop, mentor, and scale a team of contractors to support the goals of the channel, including expansion to multiple distribution points and increased live broadcasts outside of core business hours
* Collaborate effectively with technical and product teams (both internal and external), breaking down complex technical and cross-functional requirements, including driving roadmap prioritization
* Act as channel's POC to other departments/organizations within Amazon, including Prime Video and FireTV (Live Operations, Product and overall PV FAST Business/Vendor relationships)
* On-call for select weekends and nights as needed for tech support needs of the channel

Amazon Live is part of Amazon Shoppable Videos (ASV), a growing business within the Amazon Advertising, IMDb and Grand Challenge business unit. ASV is delivering the video shopping experience to Amazon consumers, with a purpose to enable customers to find inspiration, information, entertainment, and community through videos at any point in their shopping journey. The ASV team designs, builds and operates both owned and operated destination experiences (amazon.com/live, Amazon Live FAST channel), as well as federated experiences across the Amazon.com website

The Amazon Live FAST channel, which launched in 2024, and is now available on Prime Video, Fire TV and Samsung TV Plus, features Amazon's "shop the show" technology that enables customers to more seamlessly browse, shop, and engage with content they are watching on the TV screen by using their mobile device to shop.
