Job description

Drive the financial future of Amazon's global cargo airline as a strategic Finance Manager in Amazon Air. This pivotal FP&A role partners with Amazon Air leadership to shape financial strategy and enable critical business decisions. You will own Amazon Air's capital expenditure portfolio and lead a transformational "Think Big" initiative to identify dramatic opportunities to improve AIR's cost structure-driving affordability for Amazon's customers while maintaining operational excellence. You will lead comprehensive financial analysis of a multi-billion dollar air cargo network, define key performance metrics, and spearhead cost optimization initiatives that directly impact Amazon's global transportation network. The ideal candidate will excel at building complex financial models, conducting deep-dive analysis of airline economics, and translating data into actionable insights that drive operational efficiency and scale across our air cargo fleet.
Key job responsibilities
Capex Portfolio Leadership & Strategic Planning Own and oversee Amazon Air's entire capital expenditure portfolio, managing multi-billion dollar investments in aircraft, engines, and infrastructure. Develop and maintain long-range capital plans aligned with fleet strategy and network growth. Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide executive-level reporting. Coordinate quarterly Capex reviews and long-range planning cycles. Build ten-year NPV and ROI models comparing lease versus purchase options for aircraft and engines, incorporating maintenance costs, residual values, and operational assumptions to inform strategic fleet decisions. Collaborate with upstream FP&A teams including IPAT to ensure worldwide visibility and alignment on capital deployment strategies.
Think Big Cost Structure Transformation
Lead a high-visibility, cross-functional initiative to fundamentally reimagine AIR's cost structure. This isn't incremental improvement-it's about identifying breakthrough opportunities that could reshape how Amazon Air operates and competes. Analyze end-to-end cost drivers across fleet, operations, maintenance, and network. Develop business cases with rigorous NPV and ROI analysis for dramatic cost reduction initiatives. Partner with Operations, Fleet Management, Network Planning, and Carrier Strategy to validate opportunities and drive implementation. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, translating complex analysis into actionable insights that enable AIR's long-term affordability and competitiveness.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
