Job description

The NA Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team is looking for a talented Construction Project Safety Manager to support Amazon's construction safety program. This role will further develop, maintain and oversee the construction safety contractor management program in partnership with WHS Design and Construction teams. This role will be part of the global WHS Construction Safety team with a direct relationship with the Facilities, Engineering, and Construction WHS team. The successful candidate will work closely with Design and Construction, Operations Engineering, Start Up, procurement, legal, WHS, RME teams and other stakeholders. The program manager role will be a key stakeholder in the further development and implementation of Amazon's Contractor Safety Management Program including, among other responsibilities, management and tracking of the Contractor Pre-qualification Process, monitoring and documenting WHS metrics across all NA construction projects, management of the 3rd-party safety observation program to ensure adherence with key safety contract language and establishing expectations and tools for Project Managers to validate WHS compliance with established contract agreements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be the tactical Point of Contact responsible for assisting the WHS Construction Contractor Safety program.
• Be accountable for consistent and accurate execution of the Amazon Contractor Pre-qualification Process.
• Assist with the development and communication of clear contractor safety roles and responsibilities to support the construction sites for Project Managers, Construction Managers, Operations Engineering, Start-up and other stakeholders.
• Support the Real-estate legal team and Category Procurement team in maintaining current safety requirements in relevant contracts.
• Support daily execution of safety observation program and engage 3rd-party companies to complete construction safety observations and to meet safety documentation requirements.
• Develop and distribute WHS scorecards.
• Support construction managers and project managers in follow-up of serious incidents and near misses.
• Be a key stakeholder in the continued development of the WHS Construction Safety Management (CSM) and Contract Risk Management (CRM) standards.
• Ad-hoc site visits to perform observations, support construction managers and project managers or participate in other site-based activities.
• Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly WHS performance reports and records.
• Support execution team training and processes related to contract oversight from a safety perspective.
• Engage with construction, ops engineering, and launch managers to provide field support, as needed.
• Stay attuned to changing regulations and industry trends that may influence construction safety throughout NA.
• Support construction managers and project managers to establish and maintain effective WHS work relationships with developers, general contractors and subcontractors.
• Travel nationally up to 40-60% of the time.
Key job responsibilities
Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify safety issues, create corrective actions, and develop key performance indicators. Candidates must have regulatory and procedural safety knowledge and experience.

The NA WHS Construction Safety team's mission is to create best in class safety programs that will positively influence the contractors and the construction industry. We are intentionally small in size but effectively impact safety culture without authority.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- Bachelor's degree Safety, Environmental, Civil or Infrastructure Engineering
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of working with external suppliers experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
- Master's degree in safety, environmental, or equivalent field of study

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
