The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties associated with the treatment, preparation, and coating of wood, metal, glass, synthetic, concrete, or other surfaces.
The organizational location of this position is: Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC)/ Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC)/ Hill Air Force Base, UT / Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC)/ 309 AMXG/ AMARG/ Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ.
ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS OR OBJECTIVES: To support AMARG's requirement for aerospace vehicle storage, regeneration, and reclamation and disposal needs in war and peace.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)
- The employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include overtime, and/or days, swings, or owl shifts.
- The employee may be required to work during base exercises, contingencies or emergency situations.
- The employee may occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft IAW Joint Travel Regulations to other government installations, contractor facilities, or other commercial Locations for both training and mission accomplishment.
Must meet the requirements for "Production Acceptance Certification" (PAC) Program.
- Exposure to toxic paints, chemicals, or other hazards may require occupational health examinations.
- Emergency overtime may be required.
- The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: The employee prepares and coats surfaces from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms, and in situations where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard-to- reach places. The work may be at extreme heights (such as water towers or tall buildings). This requires the ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, be strapped into swing stages, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Ability to lift, carry, and set up materials and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may be required to handle materials and equipment that weigh 40 pounds and over.
- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- This is a Testing Designated Position under coverage of the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing IAW AFI44-198 dated 24 Jan 2019.
Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques.
2. Knowledge of paints and thinning compounds.
3. Knowledge of safety rules and regulations to include regulations pertaining to hazardous waste management.
4. Ability to read and follow instructions, standard specifications, etc. (other than blueprints).
5. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment such as scrapers, wire brushes, putty knives, sandpaper,
paintbrushes, rollers, compressors, and spray guns.
6. Ability to learn mixing, matching, and toning techniques.
