Medication Aide (AMAP Certified)
Location: Wise Path Recovery Center - Westover, WV
Employment Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, or PRN

At Wise Path Recovery Center, we believe recovery is possible for everyone. We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medication Aides (AMAP Certified) to join our team and play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey.
As a Medication Aide, you will work closely with nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure safe medication administration, accurate documentation, and exceptional care in a supportive, recovery-focused environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer oral, topical, and approved PRN medications under the delegation and supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with West Virginia AMAP regulations.
  • Accurately document medication administration and monitor clients for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition.
  • Maintain secure medication storage, medication carts, medication records, and controlled documentation systems.
  • Report medication concerns, incidents, refusals, or discrepancies promptly to nursing leadership.
  • Assist with medication counts, inventory management, and medication room organization.
  • Support clients in maintaining treatment compliance and participating in their recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with nurses, providers, therapists, and recovery support staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful interactions that support a positive treatment environment.

Qualifications
Required
  • Current West Virginia AMAP (Approved Medication Assistive Personnel) Certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings and pre-employment requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, healthcare, or long-term care settings.
  • CPR certification.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and move throughout the facility during scheduled shifts.

  • Frequent use of computers, electronic medication administration systems, and documentation platforms.
  • Exposure to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
