Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Operator with experience operating AMADA laser cutting machines to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining AMADA CNC laser machines to produce high-quality metal components according to production schedules and technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate AMADA laser cutting machines (e.g., ENSIS, LCG, FO series) to cut sheet metal parts to specifications.
  • Load and unload materials from the laser machine using forklifts, cranes, or manually as needed.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, CAD drawings, and job orders. Adjust machine settings to ensure precision cuts, including focus, speed, and power settings.
  • Perform regular inspection and measurement of finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform minor maintenance, such as cleaning lenses and checking alignment, and report any issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Utilize AMADA software and controls, such as AMNC or VPSS, for machine operation and file management.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow safety protocols and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience operating AMADA laser cutting machines or similar CNC laser equipment.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with AMADA control systems (e.g., AMNC 3i, Fanuc).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of laser equipment.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with AMADA CAD/CAM software (Dr. ABE, VPSS 3i).
  • Knowledge of different metal types and thicknesses (steel, aluminum, stainless).
  • Previous work in a lean manufacturing

Work Environment
  • Manufacturing floor environment; exposure to noise, metal dust, and machinery.
  • Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
  • Night Shift working schedule, including overtime and weekends
