ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHER | CERTIFIED


We are seeking an engaging and dedicated Alternative Education Teacher to join our team! This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students who thrive in non-traditional learning environments through individualized instruction and innovative teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will create a positive, inclusive classroom where students are empowered to grow academically, behaviorally, and socially-emotionally. You’ll collaborate with families, counselors, administrators, and staff to develop personalized learning plans, monitor progress, and adjust instruction to meet student needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide supervision of students in educational settings
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to students enrolled in an alternative school setting.
  • Assists in the implementation of an individual education service plan tailored to meet the unique needs of students.
  • Implement a trauma-informed approach to create a safe, predictable environment to help students regulate their emotions and engage in learning.
  • Demonstrates high levels of empathy, patience, problem-solving, and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Conducts assessments to evaluate student progress, adjust teaching strategies accordingly, and advocate for resources and services that promote student success.
  • Works collaboratively with business and community partners to assist students in attaining employability skills and work experiences.
  • Collaborate with families, community organizations, and mental health professionals to address student’s diverse challenges and integrate life skills and social emotional learning into the curriculum.
  • Keeps accurate confidential documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, etc. (i.e. course progress, grades, observations, anecdotal records, and other related data). Submit reports, forms, records, and data as requested by the Director, principals, and counselors.
  • Maintains proper certification by attending college, workshops, and professional development courses.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, administrators, certificated and non-certificated personnel, community partners, parents, and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.



QUALIFICATIONS


● Safe Hiring Solutions expanded background, including Indiana DCS index.



● Bachelor’s degree with a secondary teaching license preferred.

● Four years of successful education experience is preferred.


SALARY & COMPENSATION


  • Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience and licensure
  • 185 day position
  • Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance Benefit, retirement-eligible position

Start Date: August 3, 2026 End Date: Last Teacher Day for 2026/2027
