What is Alpha Phi?

Alpha Phi is an international women's fraternity, often referred to as a sorority, founded in 1872 at Syracuse University. It promotes sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and service among collegiate women. Members participate in social, philanthropic, and academic events, with a strong focus on supporting women's heart health through the Alpha Phi Foundation. The organization is present at many colleges and universities across North America.

What are the common responsibilities and expectations for an advisor to a collegiate Alpha Phi chapter?

Advisors to Alpha Phi collegiate chapters typically support members with chapter operations, leadership development, and adherence to organizational policies. They often help guide executive board meetings, provide mentorship to officers, and serve as a resource during recruitment events or philanthropy initiatives. Advisors work closely with both student leaders and national representatives, balancing encouragement of autonomy with ensuring compliance and safety. The role may also involve conflict resolution and assisting with chapter goal-setting, making strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset essential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Alpha Phi member, and why are they important?

However, members often gain experience with organizational tools, event planning platforms, and collaboration systems. Leadership, teamwork, and strong communication are valuable soft skills developed through involvement in Alpha Phi activities. These experiences help members build lifelong connections and transferable skills for future personal and professional success.
