LAUKOA is seeking a versatile Multi-Trade Facility & Test Structure Craftsman to support facilities, test structures, research and development projects, operational ranges, and related infrastructure at Tyndall Air Force Base. This position performs multi-trade construction, repair, renovation, maintenance, grounds, equipment, and storm-response work through the Government work-order system.
  • Job Description / Summary of Duties:
    • Construct, maintain, and repair test articles, test structures, facilities, and associated test support requirements; perform building and office renovations and routine facility maintenance; recommend infrastructure updates
    • Carpentry, rough and finish: construct, install, repair, and modify structures from complex plans, blueprints, and sketches, including irregular sizes, shapes, and angles with precise fits
    • Plumbing: troubleshoot and test plumbing systems including backflow prevention assemblies, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and cross-connection devices; install, modify, repair, and maintain sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and fixtures
    • Masonry/concrete: maintain, repair, and construct cement and concrete surfaces; compute concrete requirements; operate cement mixers; pour, spread, and level concrete
    • Painting: surface preparation (mechanical and chemical), filling, sanding, mixing/tinting, and application by brush, roller, and spray gun
    • Roofing: repair and install asphalt, tile, slate, roll roofing, felts, and shingles; remove and replace deteriorated roof sections
    • Appliance and equipment repair and preventive maintenance: troubleshoot, inspect, lubricate, check voltage/amperage, replace worn components, and maintain PM/repair records
    • Grounds keeping: operate large complex riding mowers, slope mowers, tractors, dump trucks, sweepers, and towed/attached equipment
    • Storm readiness: prepare the building for hurricane evacuation and severe weather; post-storm debris clean-up; short-notice emergency call-in
    • Logistical support: meeting support, equipment moves, requisitioning and picking up materials from local vendors
    • Work order discipline: execute and deconflict work assigned in the government work order system; coordinate schedule/material/design changes with government project managers
    • Safety, hazardous material handling, housekeeping, and PPE compliance

  • Required Qualifications:
    • 10 years' experience in facility installation and maintenance
    • Thorough knowledge of installation and maintenance of facilities and associated equipment, with practical troubleshooting and repair knowledge
    • Working knowledge of carpentry (finish and rough), roofing, plumbing, painting, appliance repair, concrete, and facilities maintenance
    • Knowledge of safety regulations and of current federal, state, local, and AF hazardous waste management regulations
    • Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals
    • Skill with hand tools, portable power tools, and a wide variety of test equipment
    • Valid state driver's license (government vehicle operation; annual driver license validation
    • NACI favorably completed�
    • U.S. Citizen
    • AF Form 332 process familiarity;
    • CPR/AED currency desirable
