The Impact You'll Have:
Alliant has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Crew Chief in our newly established Tampa office! The Crew Chief supports the Survey department by providing measurement and mapping for preparation of typical projects such as existing condition topographic, boundary, easement, plats, as-built surveys and construction staking.
Responsibilities:
  • Adjusts and operates surveying instruments
  • Operates and manages field computer uploading, downloading and storing data
  • Analyzes, compiles notes and data obtained from surveying into computer in the field or in the office
  • Performs duties such as staking, clearing brush or carrying equipment
  • Requires working technical knowledge of measuring and mapping and data collection practices
  • Requires proficiency with appropriate technology and computer software such as Total Station, Global Positioning System (GPS) or Differential Leveling related to field
  • Performs specific technical assignments as directed by the Survey Crew Chief or Land Surveyor
  • Requires minimal, however some interaction with contractors and/or clients on a project site may be necessary
  • Professional Attainments: L.S.I.T. or Technical certification is desirable but not required

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma required. Secondary education from a two-year technical school in survey technology or equivalent field training and experience preferred
  • Two (2) plus years of previous crew chief experience
  • License/Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Florida driver's license and a driving record acceptable for insurability
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by you to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This position primarily works in outdoor environment; however, some indoor work may be required. May work longer hours when season demands (summer, fall). May be exposed to all kinds of weather and engage in active, sometimes strenuous work including standing for long periods, pounding stakes, walking considerable distances and climbing hills with heavy instruments and other equipment
