The Syracuse VA Medical Center (VAMC) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans, including primary care, specialized medical and surgical treatments, mental health services, and rehabilitation programs. It features state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated team focused on delivering personalized, high-quality care tailored to the unique needs of veterans.

CT Tech - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The CT Tech provides diagnostic imaging CT services in Radiography in a competent and professional manner assigned by the Supervisor of Medical Imaging Services.
  • Provide services at dates and times assigned by the Supervisor of Diagnostic Imaging Services.
  • The CT Tech provides emergency coverage when short-staffed as assigned by the Supervisor of Diagnostic Imaging Services.
  • May encompass out-patient, inpatient, urgent care, and emergency room departments.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as CT examinations.
  • Responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced.
  • While working closely with radiologists and the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.
  • Perform proper radiologic CT examinations for images to be interpreted correctly by the radiologist.
  • Deliver appropriate and timely imaging services in accordance with the Standards of Care established by the recognized diagnostic imaging department and in accordance with the policies and procedures.
  • The CT Tech completes clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under his/her care in a timely fashion.

CT Tech - REQUIREMENTS
  • Certification: Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRTs) must be certified in general Radiologic Technology (R) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Education: Must have graduated from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Shall have a minimum of one year of current work experience in specialized modality.
  • A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
