THE UNIT:

Allegheny General Hospital's Emergency Department is a 35-bed unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center. As a quaternary care facility, AGH provides care to a highly complex patient population. The department is currently undergoing expansion and renovation with a projected completion date of November 2027, promising a brand new 48 bedED equipped with cutting-edge technology. In 2024, the ED served over 45,000 patients, averaging approximately 125 patients per day.

Job Summary: Assists, conducts triage and treats critically ill patients in this level one Trauma Center ED. Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the purpose of providing care based upon enactment of the nursing process.

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, including EMS, for the plan of care from presentation through disposition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • 1 year recent RN Emergency Exp or 2 years recent RN acute care nursing within a Trauma Center

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

  • CPR certification
