Job description

The Opportunity

A national energy-infrastructure and construction organization is seeking a field-driven Construction Manager to lead day-to-day execution of large commercial healthcare projects in the Downey/Whittier area. This role partners with the Project Manager and directs subcontractors, site logistics, safety, quality, schedule, inspections, and commissioning readiness.

This is not a hands-on trade position, but it requires someone who understands how construction is executed in the field. The successful candidate will be polished enough to represent the project with facility leaders and inspectors while maintaining credibility with Superintendents, trade partners, and field personnel.

What You Will Own

1.    Lead daily field operations, site logistics, coordination, cleanliness, and professional jobsite standards.

2.    Implement the site-specific safety plan, lead safety meetings, and support incident investigations.

3.    Create, maintain, and report the project schedule; identify constraints and implement recovery plans.

4.    Coordinate subcontractors and multiple trades in accordance with contract documents and project milestones.

5.    Manage quality-assurance activities, preparatory meetings, deficiency resolution, and documentation.

6.    Coordinate inspections with AHJs, third-party inspectors, facility representatives, and other stakeholders.

7.    Drive submittal review, material procurement, delivery planning, daily reports, and field documentation.

8.    Support project startup, commissioning, and alignment with energy-performance requirements.

9.    Communicate project health, risks, and progress to Project Management and senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

10.      At least five years of experience leading large commercial construction projects valued at $10 million or more.

11.      Hospital or university construction experience.

12.      Proven field leadership, trade coordination, subcontractor supervision, and jobsite-safety experience.

13.      Experience with pull planning and the Last Planner System.

14.      Working knowledge of Procore or similar project-management software and Primavera or comparable scheduling software.

15.      Ability to interpret plans, specifications, schedules, contracts, and quality requirements.

16.      Professional written and verbal communication skills.

17.      Ability to work onsite daily in the Downey/Whittier area.

Preferred Background

18.      HCAI/OSHPD hospital-project experience.

19.      Trade, Superintendent, General Superintendent, or MEP field foundation.

20.      Experience working in occupied healthcare or university facilities.

21.      Mechanical, electrical, controls, central-plant, retrofit, or commissioning exposure.

22.      Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.

Work Requirements

23.      Full-time, onsite role with approximately 0-5% travel.

24.      Ability to move throughout active construction environments and occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds.

How to Apply

Submit a current resume and a brief project list that identifies:

25.      Project name, location, facility type, and construction value

26.      Your title and exact field responsibility

27.      Hospital, university, HCAI, or OSHPD exposure

28.      Scheduling, safety, MEP coordination, and commissioning experience
