Job description

The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Field Management Unit (FMU) Manager of Maintenance and is responsible for the control of quality and quantity of work assignments, assuring work assignments are performed in a safe, efficient manner and in accordance with Company policy, manufacturer's manuals, and FAA requirements.
Safety Related Responsibilities
  1. Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the SMS throughout maintenance.
  2. Identifies hazards and conducts safety risk analysis.
  3. Monitors the effectiveness of safety risk controls.
  4. Ensures safety promotions are communicated throughout maintenance.

Specific
  1. Ensures mechanical dispatch reliability by accomplishing all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, in a timely manner, in accordance with quality standard set forth in the GPM and Mesa Airlines FAA Approved Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program.
  2. Ensure the quality and cost - effectiveness of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance performed at the maintenance supervisor level.
  3. Ensure the required parts, tools and technical data is available for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance performed at the maintenance supervisor level.
  4. Ensure personnel have adequate time scheduled for continuous training to upgrade personnel skill levels.
  5. Ensures the Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM) program requirements are complied with in accordance with the applicable aircraft's Maintenance Program Manual and this manual.
  6. Confirms that all work performed on Mesa Airlines aircraft is accomplished by qualified, authorized and approved personnel.
  7. Assists the CASS Department in obtaining specific information on corrective actions identified, repeat discrepancies and other problem areas.
  8. Ensures Mesa Airlines maintenance personnel are only being assigned duties for which they are specifically qualified. Take appropriate action to upgrade personnel technical skills and qualifications where necessary.
  9. Has authority and responsible for facilitating hazard identification, safety risk analysis and monitoring the effectiveness of safety risk controls within their assigned departments.
  10. Directs and assigns mechanics as necessary to accomplish all maintenance functions in accordance with the GPM.
  11. Provides leadership and technical guidance to mechanic group as required to ensure timely accomplishment of Company objectives in safety, service, operational performance and financial management.
  12. Monitors the performance of assigned personnel to ensure standards are met or exceeded in a range of performance measures.
  13. Encourages a collaborative atmosphere of participation by all employees in solving problems and maintains service excellence.
  14. Facilitate crew meetings.
  15. Has the ability to interact with all levels of the maintenance organization.
  16. Assumes responsibilities of special assignments and administrative duties as directed.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Field Management Unit (FMU) Manager Of Maintenance.

  1. Prior experience in management/supervising a maintenance workforce for a Part 121 air carrier operation.
  2. Hold a Mechanic's Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings. Meet requirements of 14 CFR § 65.83.
  3. Familiar with parameters and standards established specifically in 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, and 91.
  4. Bachelor's degree or four years of college in a technical field.
  5. Experience leading or developing work teams.
  6. Must have the ability to work independently, organize duties, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  7. Ability to interact with all levels of the maintenance organization.
  8. Dependability and good work attendance records are essential.
  9. Demonstrated ability to apply company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  10. Two or more years of experience in management/supervisory capacity in a Part 121 air carrier operation.
  11. Must have the ability to work independently, organize duties and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  12. Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  13. Possess good interpersonal and coaching skills.
  14. Familiar with computer data entry, and other Microsoft Office programs.
  15. Flexible to work various shifts both day and night.
  16. Must remain in the position for one year.
