Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator who can effectively price projects, has strong business development skills, and has the ability to engage clients, support proposal efforts, and help drive successful bid outcomes. One who maintains and leverages a broad network of qualified subcontractors across multiple trades.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of estimating experience with a general contractor in commercial construction.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects
  • Review plans, specifications, and project documents to determine scope of work
  • Develop competitive bid proposals in alignment with company goals
  • Maintain and expand a strong network of qualified subcontractors across multiple trades
  • Solicit, analyze, and negotiate better subcontractor and vendor pricing
  • Support sales efforts through client engagement and project pursuit activities
  • Drive new project opportunities through strong sales and relationship-building skills
  • Assist in bid strategy, value engineering, and preconstruction planning
  • Participate in negotiations of contracts and subcontract agreements
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate scope coverage

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor in commercial construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive bids
  • Strong sales ability with a track record of contributing to project wins
  • Established relationships with subcontractors and vendors preferred
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency with estimating software and construction management tools
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for coverage under the company’s commercial automobile insurance policy and be approved to operate a company or personal vehicle for business-related travel.
  • Occasional domestic travel required for job walks
