Director of Enterprise AI

High Industries

Lancaster, PA

Full-time

Re-posted 29 days ago

Job description

At High Companies, “Always give good measure” is more than a motto — it’s the principle that drives everything we do.

Since 1931, we’ve built our reputation on delivering more than expected: more quality, more integrity, and more care. Headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, High is one of Central PA’s largest employers and home to a diverse family of industry-leading businesses.

From construction and real estate to manufacturing and beyond, we’re united by a shared commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship, and community impact. Our people-first culture empowers every coworker to grow, serve, and lead with purpose.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE):

The Director of Enterprise AI is responsible for leading High’s enterprise AI program, defining and executing the Executive Committee-approved AI vision through an enterprise AI strategy, roadmap, governance, and operating models. This role serves as the connector across operating entities and shared services, partnering with business leaders, IT, data, legal, cyber security, and external vendors to identify, prioritize, and deliver AI initiatives that improve productivity, quality, customer outcomes, risk controls, and financial performance. The Director establishes Responsible AI guardrails (policies, approval workflows, risk management practices, and controls) that enable safe scaling of AI solutions while supporting innovation.

What this role is not:

Not the primary builder of AI solutions or a centralized “AI factory”.

Not replacing business ownership of processes and outcomes.

Not making unilateral decisions; decisions are made through agreed governance and executive sponsorship.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR EDUCATION, AND/OR EQUIVALANCE:

Bachelor’s degree required; preferably bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, STEM, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

10–15 years of progressive business experience, ideally in business management, digital/technology management, or transformation roles.

5+ years of progressive leadership experience leading cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams and enterprise-wide programs/initiatives in complex environments.

2+ years of experience applying AI (including generative AI) within an information-intensive industry or digitally advanced enterprise.

Demonstrated experience fostering enterprise change and leading technology-led transformation programs.

Experience in strategy/management consulting and/or multi-industry exposure is desirable.

Knowledge or training in legal, regulatory, privacy, security, and risk management domains is desirable.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: None required. Professional certifications such as PMP, Agile (SAFe/CSM), ITIL, CISSP, CDMP, or AI governance credentials are not required however, plus to have any listed.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS (UPWARD AND DOWNWARD): This position reports to the VP of IT.
