Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, encoder software, and coding books is typically expected for this role. Attention to detail, integrity, and effective communication are soft skills that help coders accurately translate clinical information and interact with healthcare professionals. These competencies ensure compliance, data accuracy, and support the organization’s reimbursement and reporting processes.
