Job description

Internship Overview
As an Agricultural Operations Intern at Summit Agricultural Group, you will be exposed to multiple aspects of our large-scale farming and cattle operation. The position is responsible for working in all areas of the operation and will be based at our Alden, Iowa headquarters.
Responsibilities
  • Learn how a large-scale row crop and cattle operation is managed.
  • Work with the cattle animal health team to gain on-the-job experience within our cattle feedlot and confinement barns.
  • Become familiar with feed rations and general animal care for cattle.
  • Work with the row crop team to understand and gain exposure to tillage, planting, spraying, side dressing, and irrigation.
  • Become familiar with different grain storage and drying operations.
  • Operate, repair and maintain agricultural equipment.
  • Regular interaction with the entire operational team including the cattle, row crop, maintenance and leadership teams.
  • Deliver a final presentation to Summit's management team.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
