Job description

The Mine Engineer will work directly with Project Manager and Quality Control Manager to support mine planning and stripping activities on existing and new assets. The role will include responsibility for both short and long-term mine planning and execution of land reclamation strategies. The Mine Engineer will also assist in the preparation and logging of drilling/coring activities to help create mine plans, as well as assist in field mechanical surveys and computer renderings of existing equipment.
Essential Functions
  • Partner with internal experts to develop mine plans and provide coordination of operational activity with an optimal resource utilization strategy
  • Coordinate with internal team (production, sales, QC) to establish stripping campaigns to meet production requirements
  • Develop long term strategic plans for land, to include reclamation, re-use and divesture
  • Coordinate with appropriate external resources for zoning, permitting and drilling and coring activities
  • Maintain extensive Excel spreadsheets for stripping and coring data
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural)

Experience Qualifications
  • Required 3+ years Experience in mining, construction or another related environment

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of aggregate mining operations and equipment (fixed and mobile)
  • Strong technical knowledge of evaluating and estimating mineral reserves and utilization of CAD or other software necessary for developing detailed mine and stripping (cut/fill) plans
  • The ability to partner with appropriate levels within the organization
  • Ability to travel at least 50%
  • Strong understanding of quality control and operational issues related to mining production
  • Strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple priorities while maintaining positive relationships and operating in a high level of integrity
  • High degree of both emotional and intellectual intelligence
  • Independent, confident thinker with a high comfort level with ambiguity
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office software
