What is the difference between Agency Partnerships vs Account Manager?

Agency Partnerships roles focus on building external relationships and collaborations with partner agencies, while Account Managers primarily manage client accounts and maintain ongoing relationships. Both roles require strong communication skills and industry knowledge, but their focus areas differ—partnerships emphasize external collaboration, whereas account management centers on client retention and satisfaction.

How does the Agency Partnerships role typically collaborate with internal teams to drive successful outcomes?

In an Agency Partnerships role, you’ll regularly work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product, and account management teams to align on shared goals and deliver value to agency partners. This collaboration often involves sharing insights about partner needs, co-developing go-to-market strategies, and ensuring smooth onboarding and ongoing support. Effective communication and relationship management are essential, as you're often the main point of contact between your company and external agencies, helping to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.

What are agency partnerships?

Agency partnerships refer to collaborative relationships between an agency—such as a marketing, advertising, or talent agency—and other organizations or businesses. These partnerships leverage the strengths and resources of both parties to achieve shared goals, such as expanding client reach, enhancing service offerings, or driving joint marketing campaigns. Successful agency partnerships are built on clear communication, aligned objectives, and mutual trust, making them valuable for business growth and innovation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Agency Partnerships, and why are they important?

To thrive in Agency Partnerships, you need strong business development skills, a deep understanding of marketing or advertising, and often a relevant degree such as in business, marketing, or communications. Familiarity with CRM platforms, digital marketing tools, and partnership management systems is commonly required. Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills help professionals stand out in this collaborative role. These abilities are crucial for creating mutually beneficial partnerships, driving revenue, and achieving strategic growth for both the agency and its partners.

We empower them to uncover the right markets, opportunities, and people-paving the way for smarter decisions and greater impact.
Headquartered just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Definitive Healthcare operates across North America, Europe, and India, supporting a growing global client base of more than 2,400 customers since our founding in 2011.
We're also a great place to work. In 2024 and 2025, we earned multiple workplace honors, including Built In's 100 Best Places to Work in Boston (both years), a Stevie Bronze Award for Great Employers, and recognition as a Great Place to Work in India.
We foster a collaborative, inclusive culture where diverse perspectives drive innovation. Through programs like DefinitiveCares and our employee-led affinity groups we strive to promote connection, education, and inclusion.
About the Role
We are seeking a high-impact seller to drive revenue growth through agency partnerships, with a focus on large holding companies and their healthcare media teams.
This role is responsible for introducing, educating, and scaling adoption of our healthcare digital audiences across agency planners, buyers, and activation teams, enabling agencies to activate and resell our data across their life sciences, payer, and provider clients.
Healthcare marketers are increasingly shifting toward data-driven targeting to improve engagement with both healthcare professionals and consumers.
This role is critical to establishing our audiences as a trusted, compliant, and high-performing solution within agency planning and activation workflows, unlocking scaled, repeatable growth through agency channels.
What You'll Do
Agency Revenue Growth
  • Own and grow a portfolio of agency relationships, with emphasis on major Holdco's and their healthcare-focused media teams
  • Drive new revenue through adoption and activation of healthcare audiences across multiple client accounts
  • Generate pipeline across Life Sciences, Provider, and healthcare brands by activating patient, provider, care team, and executive audiences through agency partners

Education & Enablement
  • Educate agency teams on healthcare audience strategies, including clinical and therapeutic interest-based targeting, HCP audiences, and patient journey insights
  • Position audiences within programmatic workflows (DSPs, data marketplaces, onboarding platforms such as LiveRamp)
  • Deliver training and playbooks that enable agencies to confidently activate healthcare audiences at scale

Sales Execution
  • Identify opportunities tied to healthcare campaign briefs, brand launches, and therapeutic area focus
  • Translate client objectives into compliant audience strategies (e.g., awareness, patient engagement, HCP targeting)
  • Close deals with agencies and support downstream activation into end advertiser platforms

Activation & Expansion
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure successful campaign execution and delivery
  • Use performance insights (CTR, engagement, conversion signals) to drive repeat usage
  • Expand adoption across additional brands, therapeutic areas, and agency divisions

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Operations, Product and Marketing to refine healthcare audience positioning and GTM
  • Provide feedback on demand trends (e.g., HCP targeting, DTC engagement, therapeutic categories)

What Success Looks Like
  • Agencies consistently activating and reselling healthcare audiences across multiple clients
  • Growth in repeatable, scalable activation revenue across therapeutic areas
  • Strong relationships with healthcare media planners, buyers, and programmatic teams
  • Expansion across Holdco networks and increased share of healthcare media spend

What You'll Bring
  • 4-6 years of experience in digital media, adtech, or data sales
  • Proven experience selling into agencies, ideally supporting healthcare or life sciences clients
  • Strong understanding of programmatic ecosystems (DSPs, onboarding, identity, audience targeting)
  • Familiarity with healthcare marketing use cases (HCP engagement, patient engagement, script lift, brand awareness)
  • Experience working with major agency holding companies preferred

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $87,000 - $125,000 per year, which represents the base pay the company reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role. Actual pay within this range will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible to participate in a company bonus or commission plan. All employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited paid time off, and participation in the company's 401(k) plan with employer contribution.
