Job description

Sparks Group has partnered with a rapidly growing technology organization supporting the U.S. Federal Government to identify an experienced Strategic Account Manager. This is a senior-level, customer-facing position responsible for managing the long-term commercial success of key Federal customer accounts after contract award. Unlike traditional sales roles, this position is focused on strengthening existing customer relationships, ensuring contract success, driving account growth, and supporting renewals—not new business development.

The ideal candidate has experience managing complex Federal customer relationships, understands the Federal acquisition lifecycle, and excels at building trusted partnerships across government organizations. Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary commercial relationship manager for an assigned portfolio of U.S. Federal Government accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with program managers, contracting officers, CORs, acquisition professionals, and executive stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic account plans focused on customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term growth.
  • Oversee the commercial health of assigned accounts, including contract administration, revenue tracking, invoicing support, payment milestones, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate contract modifications, option exercises, renewals, and recompete planning.
  • Identify account expansion opportunities and collaborate with Business Development teams to support growth initiatives within existing customers.
  • Partner closely with Program Management, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, and Legal teams to ensure alignment throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Monitor commercial and contractual risks and proactively drive issue resolution.
  • Represent the organization during customer meetings, executive briefings, program reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Advocate for customer needs internally while maintaining strong communication across cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain awareness of customer priorities, mission objectives, funding environments, and evolving program requirements.

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Account Management, Customer Success, Program Management, Business Development, or a related customer-facing role supporting U.S. Federal Government customers.
  • Experience managing strategic customer relationships within the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community, Homeland Security, civilian agencies, or Federal Systems Integrators.
  • Strong understanding of the Federal acquisition process, government contracting, FAR/DFARS, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting complex technology, software, SaaS, data analytics, geospatial, intelligence, aerospace, defense, or mission-focused solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage executive-level customer relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience supporting contract renewals, recompetes, account expansion, and commercial performance.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical, operational, financial, and legal teams.
  • Experience working within high-growth technology organizations is highly preferred.
  • Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
