Job description

Lighthouse Lab Services is the leading provider of laboratory personnel. Currently, we are working with a premier health system in Charleston, SC and we are seeking a Flow Cytometry Scientist OR a Hematology Medical Technologist who aspires to train in Flow Cytometry Come work in our laboratory with trained staff with the latest technology and a team dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services. Our services are performed with the utmost care, expertise, integrity and respect for the patient.

About the Role: This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Hematology Technologist who is interested in expanding into Flow Cytometry. Candidates with a strong hematology background will receive training and mentorship in flow cytometry while continuing to perform high-complexity testing in a collaborative special hematology laboratory.

Job Summary

  • Monitors workflow and evaluates compliance with service guarantees and quality control requirements.
  • Works cooperatively with all customers and responds effectively to meet or exceed the customer’s needs.
  • Orients and trains new care team members in the department.
  • Performs high complexity testing in the special hematology laboratory following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.
  • Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
  • Performs, evaluates, and documents quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. Monitors test analysis to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained and that corrective action is taken and documented as required.
  • Monitors test results, worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing, and maintenance logs.
  • Participates in method validations under the direction of the coordinator, laboratory manager, and medical director.
  • Orders reagents and supplies. Routinely monitors inventory to minimize stat orders.
  • Maintains punctual attendance consistent with company policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a biological science required. Candidates must qualify to perform high-complexity testing under CLIA guidelines.MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), CLS, H(ASCP), or SCYM(ASCP) certifications are all welcome.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing high-complexity testing in a Hematology or Flow Cytometry laboratory. Candidates with strong hematology experience and an interest in learning Flow Cytometry are encouraged to apply.
