Summary:
We are seeking candidates for a Laboratory Quality Manager in Washington, DC.
The Laboratory Quality Manager will ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO17025 and is followed at all times. The Quality Manager is responsible for providing daily oversight of all aspects of the QMS.
Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Reviews daily laboratory data/reports and provides timely results to Government representative by deadline
  • Provides quality review and authorization of material selection, usage, and qualification in conjunction with Government representative
  • Ensures in control performance of laboratory analysis, including ad-hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical review of all laboratory areas
  • Coordinates participation in external accreditation and proficiency test programs and reporting of results
  • Leads contractors during quality and procedure review meetings
  • Identifies, documents, and reports any non-conformances to management
  • Reports any process deficiencies to management
  • Provides reports to management on the performance of the QMS during Management Reviews
  • Prepares and maintains documentation and training/certification records
  • In conjunction with Government representative, develops experimental design and requirements documentation ("test plans") for new laboratory tests and methods
  • Evaluates test plan results and provides statement regarding fit for intended use
  • Prepares quality status reports
  • Coordinates and performs laboratory procedure reviews and recommendations

Requirements
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science related field
  • 3-5 years of recent related laboratory work experience in a certified (e.g., EPA, NELAC, ISO17025) public health or environmental laboratory
  • 2 years of demonstrated quality management, leadership and decision-making experience
  • Extensive knowledge of quality management systems and quality improvement tools and techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean as well as working knowledge of accreditation standards, practices, and guidelines sufficient to advise and guide laboratory managers and supervisors as they implement and maintain accreditation
  • Working knowledge of computer and analytical software programs sufficient for evaluation of electronic data, data interpretation, and report development
  • Strong understanding of the principles, practices, and techniques of the various analytical areas of the laboratory
  • Experience conducting quality assurance audits and reviews to determine compliance status and recommend corrective action plans

Security Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability
