Job description

The Administrative Specialist/Receptionist greets, assists, and directs visitors in an efficient, professional, and friendly manner. The Administrative Specialist operates the administrative office phone system and performs assigned support duties.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  • Performs reception services in administrative offices; greets guests and visitors, determines identity and purpose for visit, signs in visitors, provides badges, and directs visitors to the appropriate area.
  • Operates administrative phone system; answers incoming calls and directs callers as appropriate.
  • Performs customer services duties including providing information in response to park and zoo visitor inquiries, and directs park visitors to the proper source for specific or detailed information.
  • Keeps current on all park district and zoo information regarding special events, road closures, etc.
  • Accepts and signs for deliveries; Ensures deliveries are delivered to the proper individuals/department.
  • Performs opening and closing duties of reception area including unlocking and locking doors, turning on and off computer and lights, securing phone.
  • Performs administrative support tasks as requested including filing, completing reports and forms, and assisting with special projects as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to efficiently navigate websites, online calendars, and printed materials to locate and relay accurate information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative, as well as cooperatively as part of a team.

Work Days & Hours:Monday - Friday Afternoons
