About the Role

Cogent's Central States Group is seeking a high-performing Municipal Aftermarket Sales Representative to grow and manage aftermarket sales within our municipal customer base in Western Iowa & Eastern Nebraska. This individual will be responsible for driving parts, service, repair, and upgrade sales while strengthening relationships with municipalities, water/wastewater facilities, and public works departments.

This role is ideal for a consultative seller who understands municipal procurement processes, values technical selling, and is energized by uncovering opportunities to support customers long after the original equipment sale.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan focused on municipal aftermarket growth
  • Manage and grow an assigned territory and account base
  • Identify opportunities for parts, repairs, retrofits, upgrades, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Build trusted relationships with municipal engineers, operators, plant managers, and procurement teams
  • Collaborate with inside sales, service, engineering, and operations teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Track and manage pipeline activity within CRM
  • Provide accurate forecasting and territory reporting
  • Support customer site visits, technical discussions, and product recommendations
  • Stay informed on municipal budgets, bid processes, and industry trends

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of B2B outside sales experience (municipal, industrial, or technical sales preferred)
  • Experience selling into municipalities, utilities, or water/wastewater markets strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to grow existing accounts and generate new business
  • Strong technical aptitude and consultative selling skills
  • Ability to navigate public sector purchasing processes and long sales cycles
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
