We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced End-Item Flight Hardware Program Manager to join our growing team. The End-Item Flight Hardware Program Manager will play a crucial role in the success of our large-scale machined flight hardware projects by being responsible and fully accountable for the successful execution and customer satisfaction of the programs under their leadership. Additionally, the End-Item Flight Hardware Program Manager will assume complete responsibility for the cost schedule and technical performance on major complex, large-scale aerospace and defense components with strategic customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in complex machined components and flight hardware, with a thorough understanding of space-flight structures, proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, and a keen eye for detail. This role requires a process-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a desire to contribute to a growing company. Previous machining and manufacturing experience in a similar job shop environment is a significant asset.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the overall financial performance of the program
  • Review customer requirements technical compliance
  • Identify deliverables and program schedule with milestones and design reviews
  • Provide strategic guidance on day-to-day program issues
  • Responsible for the initial review of product nonconformance's and rework instructions when applicable.
  • Advises customers on options for corrections, translates the customer's instructions into planning, and monitors/manages the corrections to successful conclusion.
  • Participate in weekly Continuous Improvement meetings as required.
  • Understand customer expectations and requirements in order to provide flawless service.
  • Create program milestone schedules including contract review, Engineering programming and planning, first article inspection, and production delivery dates. Create LOB (line of balance).
  • Exhibit strong leadership characteristics, take ownership and accountability for performance, and achieve attainment of all assigned goals and targets.
  • Develop project status reporting (delivery schedule performance), project cost tracking and budget control.
  • Create and maintain Sales Order backlog in ERP system.
  • Coordinating New Job launch; IPT Huddle and Kick-off meeting.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions (RRCA) as required.
  • Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to ensure the proper execution of the cross-functional bid process.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure on-time delivery of parts.
  • Coordinate with other departments in regard to contract administration, delivery commitments, configuration control, charge backs, customer PO's, contract reviews, action item tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Conduct internal and customer PMR's.
  • Assist with the sales and business development activities.
  • Work with senior management to develop growth and strategy plans.
  • Provide support to other VPT initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

Formal Education & Certification

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry, with a strong preference for experience in a job shop environment focused on build-to-print, custom fabrications, and large components/ structures.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex 2D and 3D engineering drawings and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); experience with CATIA, Autovue, and Enovia.
  • Solid understanding of flight hardware processes and fundamentals. Direct experience with details & sub-assemblies is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various materials used in the aerospace and defense industry, including (but not limited to) aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, stainless steels, Inconel, and other exotic alloys, and their machinability characteristics.
  • Proven ability to break down complex projects into manageable tasks.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to develop and follow standardized estimating procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences, including engineers, shop floor personnel, and management.
  • Ability to work effectively with many different personality types in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor) is a plus.
  • A strong drive to learn and grow with the company, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days a week.
  • Understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and inspection requirements.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100) is beneficial.

Work Conditions

  • 40-hour onsite work week with on-call availability 
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
