Job description

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Project Manager to join our team in Sylmar! As the Aerospace Transparencies Project Manager you will be responsible for planning, executing and closing technical engineering projects related to the continuous improvement of aerospace transparencies for fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft applications (military and commercial).
This is a fully onsite position in Sylmar, CA and reporting to the Aerospace Site Lead, Transparencies Program Manager. This will be a fixed-term role, anticipated to last 9 months.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of aerospace transparency projects across various programs from concept through production and sustainment, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company goals. Empowered to be strategic and tactical.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. Monitor progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams, customers, and suppliers regarding project status, milestones, and changes.
  • Collaborates and drives engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D and procurement teams to ensure seamless program execution. Responsible for constructing integrated project teams as required.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance project management practices, development and/or manufacturing efficiency.
  • Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on the schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure all aerospace transparencies comply with relevant customer requirements, industry standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL-STD) and internal quality requirements.
  • Prepare and present regular program status reports, including financial performance, schedule adherence, and risk assessments to senior management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Aerospace specific industry experience is ideal.
  • 3+ years of project management or engineering experience in aerospace or defense industries, with specific experience in transparencies or related components.
  • Knowledge of aerospace transparency materials (e.g., acrylics, polycarbonates, glass), manufacturing processes, and testing methods.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000.
