MD/DO - Internal Medicine Physician - Pulmonology THE Gateway to the Pacific and West coast living SETTING Travis Air Force Base is under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command (AMC), located three miles east of the central business district of Fairfield, in Solano County, California. The base is named for Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, who died in the crash of a B-29 Superfortress while transporting a nuclear weapon. The base is within easy driving distance of California Wine Country in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, as well as the popular tourist destinations Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park and Monterey. The Central Valley is one of the world's most productive agricultural regions, also home to many signature festivals and events, from food and wine festivals to arts and cultural events. ORGANIZATION Our client is a Hawaii corporation that provides contract staff augmentation to various government agencies in the United States. The company is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii with operations at government facilities in seven (7) states. Our mission is to seamlessly partner with our customers to advance their mission by investing in the knowledge and capabilities of our Team Members. What began as an isolated airstrip on a windswept California prairie is now the site of the largest military aerial port in the United States that provides global mobility through airlift and aerial refueling. The base has also supported humanitarian relief efforts on every continent, as well as provided special airlift support for everything from presidential travel to scientific research conducted by America's space program. REQUIREMENTS (duties include but are not limited to) • Facilitate patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with MTF policies and regulations. • Provide outpatient services for patients as scheduled by the Government. • Care shall include but not be limited to routine general internal medicine care to include care for acute and chronic patient conditions. • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. • Duties include managing patient care to include approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals, answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff, refilling prescriptions, providing primary and secondary preventative maintenance care. • Admitted inpatients. • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur. • Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose and treat diseases and injuries to include, but not limited to the following: o Cardiovascular diseases - congestive heart failure, hyper-tension, arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction o Respiratory diseases - asthma, bronchitis, pulmonary thromboembolism, and pulmonary insufficiency and adult respiratory distress syndrome o Gastrointestinal diseases - peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, pancreatitis, cirrhosis and alcoholic liver o Endocrinology - diseases of the thyroid, diabetes mellitus o Rheumatology - sarcoidosis, degenerative joint disease o Renal - acute renal failure, urinary tract infection o Infectious diseases - infectious diarrheas, bacterial infections, hospital-acquired infections, infections of the compromised host, tuberculosis, and other microbacterial infections o Neurology - epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease • Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform the following medical procedures, to include, but not limited to the following: o Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation; Flexible sigmoidoscopy; Graded exercise treadmill testing; Central line placement; Arterial line placement; Intubation and airway management; Hemodynamic invasive monitoring; Lumbar puncture; Paracentesis; Thoracentesis; CPR • Prepare all records and reports as may be required in support of services rendered and as required by the MTF. • Take part in clinic Quality Assurance Program as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. QUALIFICATIONS • Completion of a residency or fellowship in internal medicine acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF. • Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. • Must have graduated from an accredited Internal Medicine residency within 1 year of hire OR have 5 years’ experience in the clinical practice of Internal Medicine.
