Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading, managing and developing a team responsible for siting, outreach and right of way activities for projects within the Project Solutions group. The primary responsibilities include supporting AEP capital deployment goals by identifying and securing suitable location for building AEP infrastructure.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Drive organizational safety performance, establishing a Zero Harm culture across the organization.
  • Lead and manage a large workforce consisting of full-time and contract employees engaged in siting, outreach and right of way activities.
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of policies, practices, standards and templates to ensure projects are performed in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Provide strategic leadership to establish, maintain, and communicate performance goals, ensuring actions are taken to address project-related issues.
  • Provide leadership oversight to ensure our portfolio of activities are completed within schedule and budget expectations.
  • Develop strategies to support growth, staffing requirements skillsets and succession planning.
  • Measure and communicate performance to leadership and identify ways to improve.
  • Promote employee development at all levels to develop skills needed to meet job-specific needs and prepare people for future roles.
  • Promote leadership and cultural development across the organization. Assist legal counselin condemnation cases and provide expert testimony as required.
  • Manage SOAR electronic tools and databasesand oversee outsourcing for siting, environmental, and permitting processes.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Services, Project Management, Outreach, Right of Way, and Engineeringon project aspects and manage siting proposals for competitive projects.
  • Foster strategic relationshipswith internal and external parties regarding siting practices and provide testimony to regulatory agencies.
  • Siting team primary activities include identifying site locations, developing routes, documenting legally defensible decisions and supporting regulatory applications and hearings.
  • Outreach team primary activities include holding local official and stakeholder meetings, announcing projects, leading public open houses, organizing project communications.
  • Right of Way primary activities include supporting route development, acquiring easements and property access, attending hearings and supporting construction activities.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressively-higher level of responsibilities in operations, engineering, environmental, strategic plan, project management, or related experience.
  • Ability to travel within AEP's service territory.
