Job description

AECI seeks the brightest and best talent to support our mission to deliver affordable, reliable, and responsible power and utility services to our members. To support department growth needed to fully support our Members, AECI is offering sign on bonuses for Foreman and Journeyman Lineman positions through July 2026.

Journeyman Position ($1,500 total):
$1,000 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been hired.
$250 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been on the job for 6 months.
$250 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been on the job for one (1) year.

Foreman Position ($2,000 total):
$1,500 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been hired.
$250 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been on the job for 6 months.
$250 (less applicable deductions) after the applicant has been on the job for one (1) year.

Employees who receive an initial sign on bonus and leave prior to completing 1 year of service will have a pro-rated amount of the sign on bonus held during their final paycheck (1/12 of total bonus amount paid for each month left prior to completing 1 year of service).

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Constructs and maintains electrical distribution and transmission systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

($42.23 an hour- $52.79 an hour)

  • Installs poles, conductor, transformers, meters, hardware on energized lines or de-energized lines in keeping with specifications and customer requirements.  
  • Reviews plans, specifications and understands and applies safety rules and company policies and promote good relations with other crew members, patron cooperatives and the public.  
  • Operates bucket truck digger-derrick and other equipment on job site, as required.  
  • Informs supervisor of equipment and materials required to complete jobs. Assists foreman in carrying out work plans.  
  • Trains other crew members in construction of electrical systems as directed by crew foreman.  
  • Performs basic maintenance on equipment and vehicles used to perform assign duties.  
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.  
  • Performs any other related duties as required for the effective and efficient operation of the Construction Department.  
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.  
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.  
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

4 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid class "A" or Commercial Driver's License is required. Journeyman Card.  

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPR and first aid training

Infrequently, the employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the state of Arkansas and stay overnight as required to complete work assignments.  
  • Must be able to work extra hours when necessary and report to work whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods.    During storm season, in and out of state storm recovery work is required.  
  • Must have working knowledge of REA plans and specifications for distribution and transmission and electric system key location maps.    
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and at excessive heights.
  • Must have tools required to perform duties and be able to perform routine maintenance on crew vehicles.  
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Training.  
  • In pursuant of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future.
