What is an advertorial?

An advertorial is a type of advertisement designed to look like an editorial or news article. It combines the informative or persuasive style of journalism with the promotional intent of advertising. Advertorials are often used by companies to provide in-depth information about their products or services while blending seamlessly with the surrounding editorial content. They must be clearly labeled as sponsored content to maintain transparency with readers. This format helps brands engage audiences in a more subtle and informative way compared to traditional ads.

How does an advertorial writer typically collaborate with marketing and editorial teams during a project?

Advertorial writers work closely with both marketing and editorial teams to ensure content aligns with brand messaging and meets publication standards. Collaboration often involves brainstorming sessions, reviewing marketing briefs, and receiving feedback from editors to balance informative content with subtle promotion. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as writers must incorporate input from multiple stakeholders while maintaining a consistent voice. This teamwork ensures the final advertorial resonates with the target audience and achieves the campaign's objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an advertorial writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Advertorial Writer, you need strong writing skills, marketing knowledge, and the ability to seamlessly blend editorial content with promotional messaging, often supported by a degree in communications, journalism, or marketing. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and digital analytics platforms is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and adaptability help you craft engaging stories that resonate with target audiences while meeting client objectives. These skills are vital for creating compelling advertorials that drive brand awareness, engagement, and conversions.

Job description

MDVIP: Transforming Primary Care, One Patient at a Time
MDVIP is a national leader in personalized healthcare, empowering over 425,000+ members to achieve their health and wellness goals through a network of more than 1,400+ affiliated primary care physicians. Our program emphasizes preventive medicine, offering comprehensive screenings, advanced diagnostics, and individualized wellness plans. Recognized as a Great Place to Work® since 2018, MDVIP is committed to excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction.
Role Summary
MDVIP is seeking a creative, strategic, and results-driven Copywriter to join our marketing team in Boca Raton, FL. In this role, you will proactively shape compelling narratives for both physicians and patients across an expanding range of channels. You will leverage AI-powered tools and content automation to scale high-quality output, while bringing a sharp understanding of the competitive landscape to every piece you create. The ideal candidate is an independent and versatile storyteller who can flex from long-form editorial to paid social, email and advertorial content, among others-fueling the full marketing funnel with persuasive, on-brand messaging.
If you're a proactive, channel-savvy writer who thrives on making an impact through words and innovation, we'd love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
  • Dig into the competitive landscape and turn insights into persuasive, audience-first content that moves both physicians and patients to act.
  • Craft compelling copy across every channel - paid social, advertorial, white papers, email, landing pages, brochures, member communications, and more - fueling the full marketing funnel from awareness to conversion.
  • Work smarter at scale by leveraging AI tools and content templates to maximize creative output, keeping capacity focused on high-impact work instead of repetitive tasks.
  • Be the guardian of the brand voice - owning and evolving templates that keep every piece of content on-message and compliant with MDVIP guidelines.
  • Partner across teams to shape communication strategies for physician recruitment, transitioning practices, and open practice opportunities.
  • Contribute to the full patient journey - from recruitment through retention - by bringing sharp, empathetic copy to broader marketing initiatives.

Key Competencies
  • Proactive Mindset - Identifies content opportunities and competitive insights without waiting to be asked; brings ideas to the table and follows through with quality execution.
  • Problem Solving - Works through messaging challenges and content roadblocks on their own, weighing options and proposing solutions rather than escalating every issue.
  • Independent Execution - Manages competing priorities and deadlines with minimal oversight; comfortable owning projects end-to-end and making sound judgment calls without step-by-step direction.
  • AI Proficiency - Fluent in AI-powered content and research tools; uses them to accelerate ideation, drafting, and optimization without sacrificing quality or brand voice.
  • Multichannel Content Fluency - Skilled across paid social, advertorial, white papers, email, and long-form content; adapts tone, format, and structure to fit the channel and audience.
  • Strategic Communication - Writes clearly and persuasively across formats and audiences; understands what motivates physicians and patients and tailors messaging accordingly.
