Chair King Backyard Store is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Advertising Director to join our team.

Advertising Director โ€“ Position Summary

The Advertising Director leads advertising, media, and public relations efforts for Chair King Backyard Store and Fortunoff Backyard Store. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Ecommerce, this full-time role drives brand awareness, customer traffic, and revenue through integrated omnichannel campaigns. The Director manages paid media strategy, budgets, and agency relationships across traditional and digital channels, balancing brand positioning with retail sales goals to maximize efficiency and ROI.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create and execute annual advertising strategies aligned with company goals and promotional calendars. Collaborate with leadership to forecast budgets, set KPIs, and track ROI.
  • Campaign Management:
  • Lead paid media campaigns across TV, OTT/CTV, radio, print, email, out-of-home, paid social, digital display, search, and programmatic. Ensure consistent messaging across markets and customer touchpoints.
  • Performance & Optimization:
  • Conduct quarterly and post-campaign reviews to refine media mix and spending. Use consumer insights and media data to improve audience targeting and budget allocation. Pilot new channels to increase reach and efficiency.
  • Public Relations:
  • Develop and execute PR strategies to boost brand reputation and visibility. Manage agencies, media contacts, and influencers to secure earned media. Oversee press releases, sponsorships, community partnerships, and advise on executive communications and crisis response.
  • Budget & Reporting:
  • Oversee a multi-million-dollar media budget, ensuring effective spending and pacing. Use analytics and third-party tools to measure advertising impact. Provide regular performance reports to leadership.
  • Work closely with ecommerce, merchandising, store operations, marketing, and finance teams to align advertising with business priorities and campaigns.
  • Build and lead an internal team focused on media buying, traffic analysis, and advertising operations. Promote accountability, innovation, and professional growth aligned with company values.
Qualifications
  • Over 10 years in advertising, media, or marketing, including 5+ years managing large-scale, multi-channel retail campaigns.
  • Strong expertise in omnichannel media strategies across traditional and digital platforms.
  • Deep understanding of audience targeting, campaign attribution, and retail marketing ROI.
  • Proven experience managing agencies, budgets, and contracts.
  • Skilled in PR, brand reputation, crisis communication, and community engagement.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with ability to influence across teams.
  • Analytical thinker with strong business sense and decisionโ€‘making ability.
  • Retail or furniture industry experience preferred; e-commerce knowledge required.
  • Familiarity with Klaviyo, Sprout Social, Vibe (CTV), Google Analytics, Google My Business, Google Merchant Center, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Ads.
Education
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience managing budgets and driving measurable business outcomes.
  • Proficient in both traditional and digital media planning, buying, and optimization.
