Adventure Nannies and Babysitters both provide childcare, but Adventure Nannies specialize in active, travel-oriented environments with specific certifications. The key difference lies in the level of experience, certifications, and the work setting, with Adventure Nannies being ideal for families seeking dedicated, adventure-ready childcare providers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Adventure Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Adventure Nanny, you need childcare experience, CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to manage children in diverse and sometimes remote environments. Familiarity with travel logistics, educational games, and communication tools like GPS trackers or scheduling apps is often required. Strong adaptability, problem-solving, and excellent interpersonal skills help you connect with families and handle dynamic situations. These skills ensure the safety, engagement, and well-being of children while supporting families with unique or on-the-go lifestyles.

What are some typical challenges Adventure Nannies face when working with families who travel frequently?

Adventure Nannies often face the challenge of adapting quickly to new environments and routines as they accompany families on trips. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are essential, as travel plans can change unexpectedly and each destination may present different childcare needs or logistical hurdles. Building trust and maintaining consistent care for children, while managing jet lag or irregular schedules, is also a key part of the role. However, these challenges are balanced by the opportunity to gain unique experiences and develop strong bonds with the families.

Upper East Side Adventure Nanny | NYC & Florida | Incredible Family | Long-Term Opportunity Full-Time Professional Nanny | Upper East Side, NYC & Seasonal Florida Travel | $40-$45/hr DOE + Benefits
The Opportunity is for an Amazing New York-based nanny
Some nanny positions are about supervising children.
This isn't one of them.
This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a warm, loving, family-centered household that values professionalism, flexibility, and genuine partnership. Our client is seeking an experienced career nanny who loves building meaningful relationships with children while supporting a busy family whose lifestyle includes time in both New York and Florida throughout the year. The family isn't looking for someone to simply "watch the kids." They're looking for a thoughtful professional who enjoys creating engaging days, encouraging learning through play, supporting routines, and becoming a trusted extension of the parents. If you're the type of nanny who thrives in dynamic households, enjoys every day looking a little different, and believes flexibility is simply part of exceptional childcare, this could be a wonderful long-term fit.
About the Family
This loving family has three young children and places tremendous value on kindness, education, family connection, and creating a joyful childhood. Mom is an incredibly hands-on, present parent and is looking for a nanny who naturally complements-not replaces-her parenting style. The ideal candidate understands how to confidently step in when needed while also knowing when to quietly support from the sidelines. Spanish is spoken regularly in the home, and maintaining the family's bilingual environment is important.
Unlike many traditional nanny positions, this role offers the opportunity to become part of a family's everyday life while experiencing two beautiful home bases throughout the year.
The family spends approximately:
  • Spring & Summer: Upper East Side, New York City
  • Fall & Winter: Florida (musst be open to relocation to FL with the family)
The ideal candidate enjoys variety, embraces seasonal travel, and appreciates building long-term relationships rather than hopping from family to family.
Responsibilities
No two days are exactly alike, but responsibilities may include:
  • Providing exceptional care for three young children
  • Planning fun, enriching, age-appropriate activities
  • Encouraging creativity, curiosity, and learning through everyday experiences
  • Supporting developmental milestones
  • Children's meal preparation
  • Children's laundry and organization
  • Maintaining bedrooms, closets, and play spaces
  • Packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Assisting with extracurricular activities and appointments
  • Helping maintain smooth daily household routines
  • Light household support related to the children, including dishes and tidying after activities
  • Collaborating closely with parents as a true team player
Ideal Candidate
We're searching for someone who is:
  • 7+ years of professional nanny experience
  • Experienced with multiple children and busy households
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules
  • Calm under pressure and naturally organized
  • Proactive without being overbearing
  • Warm, emotionally intelligent, and culturally aware
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with hands-on parents
  • Passionate about child development
  • Interested in creating meaningful experiences rather than relying on screens
  • Professional, discreet, and committed to a long-term position
Spanish-speaking candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Experience within professional athletics, entertainment, executive, or other high-profile households is welcomed but not required.
Travel
This position requires seasonal relocation between New York City and Florida, with occasional domestic and potential international travel. Travel expenses will be covered by the family.
Schedule
Generally:
  • Monday-Friday
  • Approximately 10:30 AM-6:00 PM
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings and weekend coverage when schedules change
Because of the nature of the family's lifestyle, the ideal candidate genuinely enjoys flexibility and understands that occasional schedule adjustments are part of supporting a modern household.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
  • $40-$45 per hour DOE
  • Guaranteed hours
  • Legal W-2 employment
Benefits Include
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick time
  • Health insurance stipend (for full-time employment)
  • Travel expenses covered while working
  • Long-term opportunity with an exceptional family
  • Professional payroll administration
Overall Personality Fit
The family describes their ideal nanny as someone who is naturally warm, easygoing, emotionally mature, and genuinely enjoys being around children. They're hoping to find someone who is just as comfortable building forts in the living room as they are organizing closets before a family trip. Someone who notices what needs to be done without being asked, communicates openly, adapts with grace, and becomes a trusted part of the family's everyday life.
If you're looking for a position where you can truly make an impact while building a long-term relationship with a wonderful family, we'd love to hear from you.
