Job description

Experienced Spanish-Speaking Nanny Needed | West Village, NYC | Two Children
A warm, active family in the West Village is seeking an experienced, engaging, and proactive nanny to care for their two children, ages 5 and 2. The ideal candidate has native-level Spanish fluency, strong experience with toddlers and school-aged children, and a genuine interest in supporting children's emotional, social, and developmental growth. This is a long-term role for someone who is loving, energetic, grounded, and confident creating structure while keeping the afternoons creative, warm, and fun. The nanny will work as part of a small childcare team and will rotate with another nanny, so a collaborative, team-oriented attitude is essential.
Schedule
The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM–8:00 PM. The family guarantees and pays for a full 40-hour workweek, even when all hours are not regularly worked. The nanny should also be available for full-day coverage when school is closed for holidays, breaks, sick days, or other scheduled closures.
This role involves rotating with another nanny to ensure consistent coverage for the children and household. The ideal candidate should be comfortable communicating clearly, coordinating handoffs, and working collaboratively to maintain consistent routines and expectations.
Additional flexibility is important, including occasional later evenings for date nights, family events, and other needs. Some weekend support may be requested as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience. The family provides a health insurance stipend and guarantees a 40-hour workweek.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care for both children; supporting school pickups, after-school activities, dinner, bath, and evening routines; and helping maintain a calm, respectful, and positive home environment.
The nanny will help foster a Spanish-speaking environment in the home and should feel comfortable speaking Spanish with the children throughout the day.
The role also includes planning creative, engaging, age-appropriate activities; accompanying the children to parks, sports, swimming, jiu-jitsu, enrichment classes, and local outings; and collaborating closely with the parents and the other nanny to maintain consistency, structure, and clear expectations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has native-level Spanish fluency and significant experience caring for both toddlers and school-aged children. A background in child development, early childhood education, psychology, or a related field is strongly preferred.
The family is looking for someone who is warm, active, emotionally attuned, and confident setting healthy boundaries. The right candidate will be skilled at guiding behavior through positive reinforcement, redirection, emotional validation, and age-appropriate communication, without relying on bribery or excessive rewards.
The nanny should be flexible, professional, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a busy household. A calm, steady presence is important, as is the ability to keep children engaged, safe, and moving through routines with warmth and confidence.
The family's oldest child is highly creative and enjoys outdoor play, swimming, jiu-jitsu, imaginative projects, and exploring the city. The ideal nanny will enjoy participating in these activities and encouraging curiosity, confidence, independence, and creativity.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be confident swimmers. A driver's license is preferred, and driving experience is a significant plus, particularly for family travel to the Hamptons and other destinations. The nanny should be travel-ready and available to accompany the family approximately 2–3 times per year.
Valid work authorization and excellent references are required.
Interview Timeline
The family is beginning interviews immediately and hopes to find a long-term fit who will become a trusted and integral part of the household.
