Job description

Build Next-Generation Avionics Systems as a Senior Advanced Software Engineer with PDS Tech!

Pay Rate: $63.45/hr

We’re seeking a highly experienced Sr Advanced Software Engineer with deep expertise in Flight Management Systems (FMS) to support development of advanced avionics for next-generation aerospace platforms.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, development, and integration of complex, safety-critical flight software, working alongside a team of top engineers in a fast-paced, innovative environment.


 Must-Have Expertise (Non-Negotiable)
  • 8+ years of FMS software development experience
  • Strong C++ / Object-Oriented Programming skills
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum development environments
  • Strong background in software architecture and design

 FMS Functional Experience (Required – Multiple Areas)

Candidates must have hands-on experience in several of the following:

  • Navigation Database Management
  • Flight Planning
  • Lateral and Vertical Guidance
  • Performance & Trajectory Prediction
  • Performance Optimization
  • Radio Tuning
  • Approach Operations
  • Datalink
  • Takeoff and Landing systems

 What You’ll Do Software Development & Architecture
  • Design and develop high-quality FMS software architecture and applications
  • Implement scalable, high-performance, and secure software solutions
  • Develop embedded and avionics software systems

 Integration & Testing
  • Integrate FMS software into aircraft systems
  • Perform testing and validation on lab test benches
  • Support functional load deliveries and system integration

 Collaboration & Requirements
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and specifications
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions
  • Ensure compliance with certification requirements

 Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with industry trends in avionics and software engineering
  • Contribute to improving development processes and methodologies

 Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
  • 8+ years of experience in Flight Management Systems (FMS) software development
  • Strong expertise in C++ and object-oriented design
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Proven experience in software architecture and system design

 Preferred Qualifications
  • 8–15 years of experience (ideal range)
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with embedded systems development
  • Multi-core / multi-thread programming experience
  • Strong understanding of OOAD principles
  • Experience with DO-178C software lifecycle processes
  • Experience with software verification and validation (V&V)
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Pay Details: $63.45 per hour
