Title: Lead-Buyer

Position Summary:
The Lead Buyer will champion the procurement process, ensuring adherence to the organizationโs purchasing standards and guidelines both internally and externally. Additionally, the Lead Buyer will manage and execute purchase requisitions for materials and services needed by Fleet Maintenance Operations to ensure continuity of supply. This role shall provide localized team support at the site on sourcing initiatives for critical commodities โ aiming to reduce cost, lead-time and commercial risks. The Lead Buyer will collaborate closely with internal customers to maintain timely communication on key objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing plans for material thresholds to control inventory dollars and avoid productivity losses.
- Collaborate with department leaders on tactical and strategic supply chain functions.
- Mentor new hires & current team members on the ERP systems within the procurement function.
- Assist in establishing material thresholds to control inventory dollars and avoid productivity losses.
- Create and manage purchase orders for Point of Use parts, inventory items and services.
- Help establish purchasing workflows to ensure accurate pricing and material selection.
- Engage in negotiations with suppliers to maintain a competitive supply chain.
- Facilitate warranty recovery on parts/labor through collaboration with maintenance staff and suppliers.
- Manage inventory and year-end reconciliation of purchased components in designated areas
- Maintain compliance of internal/external company purchase terms and departmental standards.
- Assist maintenance technicians on parts for repair work-orders and perform inventory reconciliation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in business required, or equivalent and relevant work experience
- ISM/APICS certifications preferred but not required
- At least three (3) years of purchasing and/or material planning experience in a service-oriented environment for medium/heavy duty fleet, equipment & parts management, repairs and warranty recover, five (5) years preferred
- Experience with ERP systems, Fleetio and NetSuite a plus
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Advanced negotiating skills
- Analytical skills and with the ability to aggregate and analyze large data set
- A Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and or related software
