ADULT EDUCATION ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR
Location: Jackson County Learning Center, Seymour, Indiana
Monday Thursday, 9:00 AM 12:00 PM
Position Purpose
McDowell Adult Education is seeking a dedicated and dynamic ELL (English Language Learner) Instructor to provide high-quality instruction and assessment for adult learners. This position is ideal for an educator passionate about supporting students as they work toward academic, language, and career goals in a welcoming, student-centered environment.
Essential Functions
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports individualized learning and student success.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with a diverse population of learners while maintaining high expectations for achievement.
  • Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that addresses varying academic levels, learning styles, and English language proficiency.
  • Utilize assessment data, including inTERS, TABE, and other state-approved tools, to guide instruction, identify learning needs, and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with students to develop and review individualized Adult Learning Plans.
  • Monitor attendance, participation, and academic performance while providing feedback, remediation, and instructional support as needed.
  • Incorporate technology and digital learning resources into classroom, hybrid, and online instruction.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation in compliance with DWD and Adult Education policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings, evaluations, and professional development activities to support continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties related to the position as assigned by the Director or Program Coordinator.
