Job description

We invite you to join Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation, a Missouri Community Action Agency, as part of our Delta Adult Education program. This position supports the work of DAEOC, a community action agency committed to empowering people to make positive change. The Adult Education Lead oversees and directs the planning, organizing, and implementation of the Adult Education Center in Portageville.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the hiring of adult education instructors. Provide initial training, supervise and evaluate adult education instructors.
  • Create and maintain class schedules.
  • Maintain facilities and workspaces.
  • Knowledgeable in all approved assessment tools for adult education programming.
  • Administer and monitor all assessment activity in the assigned area of responsibility. Provide registration and orientation activities, advising, counseling, and retention intervention for adult education students.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment activities.
  • Program development, identify and seek new grant funding opportunities, strategic planning activities, and evaluation activities.
  • Generate and maintain records, reports, and statistics, analyzing data as part of program review and for data-driven decision making.
  • Maintain linkages with agencies, organizations, businesses and programs that share common interests and concerns with the adult education population.
  • Assist with the planning and design of informational strategies and promotional activities for public relations campaigns, programs, and events.
  • Assist program administration in maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position supervises Adult Education Center staff.

Education and/or Experience and Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience in adult education and/or supervisory role is desirable
  • Experience with federal grant management is preferred.

Other Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings. Must be able to travel the six-county area occassionally and go out-of-area on a periodic basis.
