JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for assisting senior/older adult clients with various activities of daily living while they are attending programming. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with toileting, grooming, hygiene, eating, and small group activities. This individual must be able to communicate effectively with older adults who may experience some cognitive impairments or Dementia. The Adult Day Program Assistant promotes participants' independence while maintaining their safety and confidentialityThe duties listed below are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities for this position. This role requires the exercise of independent judgment, discretion, and initiative while adhering to agency policies and procedures. Strict confidentiality must be maintained in all matters. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain appearance, conduct, and speech consistent with job expectations and service population.Always maintain a clean and organized work area. Must be able to assist all program participants in varies ADL's including, but not limited to, toileting, dressing, grooming, meal service, and tray prep.Provide supervision and assistance with ambulation/transferring as needed to program participants Assist program participants to safely transfer on and off ADP transportation vehicle.Assist the Site Supervisor with planning programs and daily schedules for program participants, participating in all program planning processes set forth.Participate in and provide meaningful programing options including crafts, games, and exercise activities for program participants.Document daily participant activity records (charting).Complete daily housekeeping tasks as assigned. Including, but not limited to wiping down tables, kitchen clean up, bathroom clean up, and taking out garbage.Participate in all processes involved to serve program participant meals and snacks.Actively participate in the development of program participants individual plan of care.Effectively communicate with clients who have cognitive impairments and/ or dementia, and varies other diagnosis affecting judgment, decision-making, and boundaries.Complete training and obtain a J05 Driver's license designationSubstitute as a driver for Transportation Driver as needed (some duties include, but not limited to, below).Be flexible with changing work environment and/or assignments.Attend required trainings as directed by the Supervisor, Director, CEO or CHRO to remain current on all internal policies, applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.Maintain dignity and respect for the participants served, while promoting their independence and maintaining safety. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma and clean driving record required. Minimum 3 years' experience in Customer Service and a minimum of 1 year working with the senior population.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and demonstrate commitment to cultural diversity.Must demonstrate good professional judgment, reliability, and an ethical practice record.All matters must be handled with the utmost confidentiality at all times without exception.Must have a clean background history according to State of Illinois requirements.
