Sr SAP S/4HANA US Payroll Consultant (Hands-On Configuration)

    ADP

    Alpharetta, GA

    Full-time

    Re-posted 13 days ago

    Job description

ADP is seeking a true hands-on SAP S/4HANA Payroll Consultant with deep expertise in US Payroll schemas, rules, and configuration to support GlobalView clients.

This is a post-production + configuration-heavy role, not coordination or ticket routing. You will be expected to personally analyze, configure, and resolve payroll issues at the schema and rule level and advise clients with authority.

If you cannot confidently work within SAP Payroll schemas and rules, this role is not a fit.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

Post-Production Support & Root Cause Ownership

    • Independently troubleshoot payroll issues using schemas, PCRs, logs, and cluster results (RT, CRT, etc.)
    • Perform root cause analysis-not escalation
    • Configure fixes and validate using payroll simulations and test runs (PC00_M10_CALC)
    • Analyze impact of Support Packs and SAP Notes on payroll processing

    Hands-On Payroll Configuration

    • Configure and modify:
      • Payroll schemas
      • Personnel Calculation Rules
      • Wage type processing, valuation, and custom logic
    • Maintain and enhance:
      • Enterprise structure, Payroll areas, Personnel structure
      • Posting to Finance (symbolic accounts, wage type mapping)
    • Support Time Management integration impacting payroll

    S/4HANA Payroll Expertise

    • Navigate differences between ECC vs S/4HANA Payroll
    • Understand Fiori apps, payroll control center (PCC), and architecture differences
    • Support payroll integrations and Finance postings in S/4 environment

    Client Advisory (SME-Level)

    • Explain why payroll behaves a certain way, not just fix it
    • Advise on best practices and implications of configuration decisions
    • Lead mini-enhancements or payroll-related solution changes

    Technical Collaboration

    • Partner with technical teams, but own the functional solution design
    • Interpret SAP Notes and apply them correctly to payroll logic

    Leadership

    • Mentor junior consultants specifically in:
      • Schema navigation
      • PCR design
      • Payroll debugging techniques

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3-5+ years hands-on SAP US Payroll configuration
    • Deep experience with:
      • Schemas and PCR rules (must be able to explain logic)
      • Payroll processing cycle and logs
      • Wage type configuration and processing
    • Proven ability to:
      • Debug payroll results in clusters and logs
      • Configure solutions independently

    Disqualifiers

    • No experience working directly in schemas (PE01) or PCRs
    • Only ticket-based or L1/L2 support without configuration ownership
    • Inability to explain payroll execution flow step-by-step
    • Experience limited to HR admin or data entry

What We Will Test You On

    • Real configuration scenarios
    • Schema interpretation
    • Payroll calculation debugging
    • Understanding of wage type flow and processing logic

    Interview Process

    • Recruiter Prescreening 30 minutes
    • 1 - 2 technical interviews 1hour in duration (In - person or Virtual)

YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE BECAUSE YOU CAN:

    • Have courageous team collaboration. Courage comes from how associates are willing to have difficult conversations, speak up, be an owner, and challenge one another's ideas to find the best solution.
