Job description

  • Basic network troubleshooting skills
    • Participate in troubleshooting Tier 1 network/vpn issues in their helpdesk Slack channel.
    • E.g., if an end user does not have connectivity, do they know the steps to troubleshoot?Wireless and wired?
    • If the end user is having trouble with the basic IT stack, can they do basic troubleshooting
  • Basic network administration skills
    • If a wired user does not have connectivity on a switch port, do they know the basic commands to troubleshoot on the switch?
  • Basic device configuration
  • Stage and deploy new sites with network infrastructure adhering to standards.
    • As they acquire companies, end client has preconfigured networking components and shipped them to the site, and then traveled onsite to rack, stack, and cable everything.The candidate should be able and willing to travel some. They will need to be able to run patch cables, make custom patch cables, and dress racks.
    • Because of the nature of the business, the person will need to work in labs that have slightly higher ceilings so working on a ladder when doing cabling would be a requirement. The specific lab protocol needed (clean room, laser training, etc.) is not necessary for the candidate, as end client is willing to train them on that part.
