Job description

Administrative & Operations Assistant

Location: New Jersey

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $21-$25 an hour – based on experience

Benefits: Health insurance options, paid time off, paid holidays and on-the-job training.

About the Position

We are a small, growing precision manufacturing company looking for a dependable, organized and motivated Administrative & Operations Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on position that goes beyond traditional administrative work. You will provide day-to-day support to management, communicate with customers and vendors, maintain records and documentation and help keep our operations organized and running smoothly.

Because we are a small team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with management, learn different aspects of the business and take on new responsibilities as you develop. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in doing things accurately, enjoys learning and is comfortable taking initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support to management and the team
  • Maintain files, records, documentation and other business information
  • Prepare documents, reports, spreadsheets and correspondence
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook on a regular basis
  • Communicate professionally with customers and vendors
  • Organize information and help coordinate day-to-day activities
  • Assist with job tracking and manufacturing-related documentation
  • Support quality and inspection documentation
  • Help keep the office and daily operations organized
  • Identify opportunities to improve organization and efficiency
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the company and your skills grow

Learn More Than Administration

One of the unique aspects of this position is the opportunity to learn about precision manufacturing.

You will receive on-the-job training in areas such as:

  • Using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers
  • Understanding measurements and tolerances
  • Supporting quality and inspection activities
  • Maintaining quality-related documentation
  • Understanding how jobs move through the manufacturing process

Previous manufacturing or inspection experience is not required. We are happy to train someone who is curious, interested and willing to learn. If you enjoy math, numbers, measurement and problem-solving, you may find this aspect of the position particularly rewarding. Precision manufacturing requires accuracy and attention to detail, and you'll have the opportunity to develop practical skills in these areas.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Dependable and takes responsibility for their work
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Comfortable taking initiative
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Comfortable working with numbers
  • Interested in learning new skills
  • A good problem-solver
  • Flexible and willing to help wherever needed
  • Comfortable communicating with management, customers, vendors and coworkers
  • Interested in growing with a small company in a team-oriented environment

Previous office or administrative experience is preferred, but we're willing to consider someone with strong organizational skills and the right attitude who is eager to learn.

Why This Role Is Different

With a small but mighty team, everyone plays an important role in the success of the company. You won't be limited to a narrow set of responsibilities. You'll work directly with management, see how different parts of the business fit together and have opportunities to learn skills that aren't typically part of a traditional administrative position. We value employees who ask questions, make suggestions, identify ways to improve things and take an interest in the success of the entire company. As we grow, your responsibilities will grow.

Requirements

  • Previous administrative or office experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working with numbers and basic mathematical concepts
  • Willingness to learn manufacturing and precision measurement processes
  • Reliable transportation required

*Benefits and compensation are subject to applicable eligibility requirements and company policies.

How to Apply

If you're dependable, curious, organized and interested in developing both administrative and manufacturing skills, we'd love to hear from you. Please email your resume to ParisB@PKPrecision.com.
